The last Changgyeonggung Palace in November

Originally, I planned to wake up early today and go to Seoul Grand Park.
I was going to enjoy the colorful autumn leaves and take pictures of cute animals, but I overslept and woke up at 10.

After thinking about where to go, I decided to go to Changgyeonggung Palace.

Changgyeonggung Palace is the third smallest of the five palaces of Joseon and has no special landmarks, so it is not well known.

However, the history of this place is very sad.

This place has never been damaged since it was rebuilt after the Imjin War.

It is currently designated as a national treasure.

Beyond the walls of Changgyeonggung Palace is Changdeokgung Palace.

Since 2010, it has been possible to visit both palaces at once.

Chundangji

Chundangji is a pond named after Chundangdae in the front yard of Changdeokgung Palace.

During the Joseon Dynasty, there was no wall between Changdeokgung and Changgyeonggung Palaces, so Chundangji was part of the rear garden of Changdeokgung Palace.

During the Japanese colonial period, it was torn down and turned into a zoo. As the facilities of Changgyeongwon, which had been reduced to a botanical garden, museum, amusement park, and tourist attraction, became old and cramped, the Ministry of Culture and Public Information and the Seoul Metropolitan Government decided to build a park with a larger site than Changgyeongwon in the Gwacheon area, which is the Seoul Grand Park that I wanted to go to visit today.

Changgyeongwon was closed in 1983, and restoration work began based on historical research, and in 1986, it was opened as Changgyeonggung Palace, which is how it is today.
