I'm going to try making the foods DANIELLE and HANNI introduce in this podcast!
The first food is Potato Cake.
DANIELLE said to have called this food Potato Scallops, but it is also called Potato Fritters.
I referenced the recipes in the two videos below!
First, let me introduce the food ingredients!
2 potatoes, 2 cups of flour, 2 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, beer, cooking oil!
I used russet potatoes.
First, peel 2 potatoes and slice them into 2~3mm thick pieces!
After that, boil the potatoes in water with an appropriate amount of salt for 3 minutes!
Once the water boils, add the potatoes and start counting!
While the potatoes are boiling, sift the prepared flour into a bowl and add it.
Add salt and baking soda and mix!
Once the potatoes are boiled, take them out of the water and dry them briefly on a paper towel.
And sprinkle a little flour!
After preheating the oil to 180 degrees
Add beer to the mixed powder and mix further!
I added 341mL of beer and it was perfect.
They say that if you put the dough in ice water and mix it gently, gluten will not form and you will end up with Japanese-style tempura.
However, in order to make it exactly like the video, I created gluten and made fries that looked like the Australian video above.
Then cover the potatoes with batter.
Grab the potato and dip it in the oil for about 4 seconds before releasing it.
This will float you of fried food.
If you leave it alone, the fries will stick to the bottom!
Wait until the dough turns golden brown
Take it out and put it in a sieve!
Put it in a bowl, sprinkle salt, pepper, and vinegar if you like, and you're done!
It's really delicious!!!
The texture is crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
It's a texture that lets you know why it's called Potato Cake!
Thank you so much for reading!!
The next dish will be Sausage Roll!!
