The new Ashley Queens Garak Mall branch recently opened during Sky Garden remodeling.
I had been meaning to go there once and finally decided to visit this time.
At first, I thought, 'Most people who come to Garak Market are people who want to buy live fish to eat raw fish or buy meat to grill. Will Ashley be able to do business?'
When I got there, even though it was lunch time on a weekday, there were 13 people waiting. It was like this when I arrived 30 minutes after opening, and later the number of people waiting increased to 25 teams.
If I had come a little later, I wouldn't have been able to eat it at all.
The internal buffet line is roughly laid out like this.
Of course, it's not a buffet that will overwhelm people as soon as you walk in, but considering the price (19,900 won for adults for weekday lunch), I think this is just right.
Sushi, Western food, Chinese food, Korean food, and desserts are all displayed in a variety of ways.
One thing that's a bit disappointing is that there are very few a la carte dishes, so it's hard to avoid the feeling of monotony.
On one side there are rows of French fries, potato wedges, potato chips and mashed potatoes, on the other side there are rows of pasta, and next to that there are pizzas...
The only thing that resembles an a la carte dish is seaweed sea squirt bibimbap, so it doesn't feel luxurious.
The waffle corner and chocolate fountain are the main attractions.
It's a colorful corner that children will like. Maybe that's why there's a sign posted asking children not to point their fingers in.
First of all, the first dish is appetizers.
Surprisingly, the salad was quite poor. Salads are a great menu item to add to the variety without much effort, but why?
Well, it doesn't really matter to me since I only eat one bite anyway to whet my appetite.
Start by bringing Caesar salad, tomatoes, corn salad, lamb skin, bean sprouts, and takoyaki.
We bring different types of sushi and eat it.
Normally, if you eat like this from the beginning, you'll get full quickly, but Ashley Queens doesn't have a sashimi section, so sushi is the only cold appetizer you can eat.
Because of the price, it's hard to expect sushi made with high-quality fish, but I feel like they did a good job of combining cheap ingredients so it doesn't get boring.
But I guess I couldn't find it, so all I could see was the buffet plates being warm. I also wish I had chilled plates for sushi or salad.
Now that the appetizers are over, let’s start eating the food.
Potato chips, French fries, potato wedges, paella, pizza, spaghetti, gnocchi, macaroni, and mushroom soup.
Italians might feel the same way Koreans feel when they go to a ramen buffet when they see this lineup.
Still, they all provide the basic taste required in a restaurant in their own way.
However, looking at the menu itself, I think there are a lot of foods that are a bit too greasy.
I put mac and cheese on cream gnocchi, but it would be impossible for me to top it with cream carbonara or rose pasta.
Still, cream of mushroom soup is always delicious.
It's time to eat meat in earnest, but since it's weekday lunch time, there isn't much good meat available.
You have to order the stone steak separately, but for that money, I think it would be better to just come to Ashley one more time.
The only consolation is the taco fork that has been grilled to be eaten in the taco.
Other dishes include fish and chips, fried squid, mushroom sweet and sour pork, crab meat fried rice, japchae, and my personal favorite, chow mein (fried noodles),
Plus grilled cabbage and unexpected cheongpo jelly.
Originally, in order to eat it properly, you had to review each menu little by little like this, then make tacos - set a meal with seaweed bibimbap with Korean side dishes and soup - customize rice noodles, and finish with making waffles...
It's a hot day, so I sat down next to the window and everything bothers me -_-;;
Since I was quite full, I ended up compromising by just finishing this and having some dessert.
I ate various cakes, jellies, and chocolates while gorging myself on sorbet.
Just looking at the chocolate, it doesn't seem to be of the high quality chocolate that can be released as a single item like this, but I think it would have been better if they had put in fruit chips or nuts and released it as bark chocolate, even if it took a little more effort.
I went to the dessert corner to eat some more fruit, but the signature tiramisu that was left behind because I had already taken all of it was refilled.
Plus, the red velvet cake right next door is new.
You're such a lucky Vicky~
I got two pieces of cake that just came out... not hot, but refreshing.
As for fruits, I couldn't get enough of kiwi and banana, so I just brought a piece of peach and mango.
It was a shame to just pass by the chocolate fountain, so as a courtesy, I secretly showered it with a piece of marshmallow.
Make an affogato by pouring double espresso over vanilla ice cream.
The cake is delicious because it is slightly frozen.
Although the chocolate fountain looks fine on the outside, it actually has hygiene problems, such as children sticking their hands in it and flying insects falling into it...
Well, you eat it for the taste. Haha, the flavor of flying insects soaked in warm chocolate. It's okay if you eat it without knowing.
Ashley Lunch has a 2-hour limit. But since I was eating at the speed of light, there was still some time left.
There is a black tea corner, so I bring a tea bag.
Finally, cold tea with cider.
Originally, Ashley's rule was to put passion fruit in cider, but for some reason I wanted to drink black tea cider, so I made it this way.
But as expected... I don't respect it. -_-;
To make black tea cider, you have to steep it in hot water until it's very strong and then mix it with ice and cider. I remember making cold cider in the past, so I tried it to see if it would infuse a little, but it didn't work.
Well, anyway, this is the end of the attack on the Ashley Queens Garak Mall branch.
Considering the price of eating out these days, a bowl of soup costs 10,000 won, and you have to pay 15,000 won for a decent meal.
It's definitely an advantage to be able to eat a lot of food and enjoy dessert for just 20,000 won.
The food quality is comparable to that of a Korean buffet, and is slightly lower than that of a Chinese or Italian restaurant, so it is very cost-effective.
If you give up the desire to try everything and fill your stomach leisurely with the best menu - some sushi, tacos, bibimbap, and signature desserts, along with sides that suit your personal tastes - I think you will be quite satisfied.
