7 thoughts I had while listening to Jimin’s second solo album ‘MUSE’

If 'FACE' was a sea of shadows and darkness, 'MUSE' is an album that shines light. Jimin's second album MUSE, released a year and a half after his first solo career, is a clear departure from FACE, which was dominated by the softness of tracks such as 'Like Crazy' and 'Alone' or the raw anger of 'Face-off'. . Instead, we receive a noticeably bright audio package, and this listening experience is fueled in large part by its quirky whimsy and heartfelt lyrics.

In addition, member B's undeniable stage sense also shines. Jimin released a captivating music video for the title song 'Who', showing off his captivating moves and scene-stealing charisma in a scene where he walks around the streets of New York at night and sings of his passionate love for his future lover. Now that the full MV and entire album have been released, all that's left is to sit back, relax, and follow the music wherever it guides us. Below, we introduce seven thoughts on Jimin's second album, 'MUSE'.

1. If FACE's opening track, 'Face-off', had a dark and twisted feel, 'Rebirth (Intro)' is like a sigh of relief that spreads throughout the body as soon as 10 seconds have passed, like sprinkles sprinkled on a cake and sparkling. As for the song, it makes me wonder what it would be like if it had an OST.
2. It’s showtime. Like the ingenious approach shown by fellow B leader himself in his interlude track, Jimin's 'Interlude: Showtime' also provides musical fun. Sounding like the entrance to a marching band, this song is a delightful build-up to the next track, 'Smeraldo Garden Marching Band'.
3. This is Jimin's most ecstatic track on the album and his first collaboration track with rapper Loco. The Beatles' 'Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band's musical inspiration, this lively, brassy escape is a symphonic satire of the heightened emotions of finding new love.
4. When it comes to 'Slow Dance', we almost wonder if it was written with our beloved B's 'muse' in mind. This gentle song delivers the message of a blossoming relationship with the honey-sweet vocals of Jimin and Sophia Carson, whose voices melt like butter.
5. Do you remember ‘Filter’? This sultry dance solo meets its younger, more adventurous cousin. 'Be Mine' is a song that stands out for its experimentation with Afrobeat, but also stands out with powerful swing and nostalgic R&B. 'Filter' is considered to be a song that we definitely want to see when B resumes his activities (aka concerts).
6. It's interesting that MUSE sounds much more similar to what was initially envisioned for Jimin's first solo album. But considering the time gap between FACE and his enlistment date (late last year), we can't help but wonder if the music was written at the same time and how he would have audibly handled two very disparate aspects in the studio.
7. The album ends with ‘Closer Than This’, a warm and honest song dedicated to fans ahead of enlistment last year. As a fan, this is a simple and charming song that reminds us that Jimin has always been our comfort.
