I went to Gimcheon and Yeongdong, two towns facing Hwangaksan Mountain, on a day trip from Seoul and by public transportation.
Both areas are serviced by trains, so I took the train.
To get to the famous Jikjisa Temple in Gimcheon, take Gimcheon Bus No. 11 or Bus No. 111 at the bus stop near Gimcheon Station.
There is no need to worry about buses since they run frequently.
Jikjisa Temple is an ancient temple with a history of over 1,500 years and is also the location of the Great Master Samyeong.
Befitting its history, it is quite large in scale, and Jikjisa Temple, including hermitages scattered throughout Hwangaksan Mountain, is also large.
Since it was a day trip, we couldn't see the entire hermitage and only looked around Jikjisa Temple.
The quiet temple had a subtle, old-fashioned atmosphere.
Before going to Jikjisa Temple, there is a huge tower that catches your eye.
It is a peace tower located in Samyeong Ambassador Park, but when I went inside, I realized that it was not possible to go up.
There are several tile-roofed hanoks in the area around Samyeong Ambassador Park, but there are no people around, so it feels quiet.
There is also a botanical garden around Jikjisa Temple.
When I went inside, the sunlight was shining down, creating a mysterious atmosphere.
In addition, there is a ceramics museum near Jikjisa Temple, but I didn't visit it as I wasn't particularly interested in it.
(Regardless of interest, I think Gimcheon City's policy of concentrating attractions around Jikjisa Temple is excellent)
Leaving Gimcheon behind, we headed to Yeongdong, to be exact, Hwanggan-myeon, Yeongdong-gun.
12:23 If you miss the train, there will be a gap of more than 3 hours, so you need to be careful.
I walked from Hwanggan Station to Wolryubong Peak (there is a bus that goes nearby, but considering the bus schedule, walking may be faster)
The Chogangcheon River flows in a meandering manner, and the rock wall stands tall and proud.
I thought it was pretty worth seeing.
I moved towards Yeongdong-eup, the center of Yeongdong.
You can also take the train from Hwanggan Station, but it is better to take the bus because trains run less frequently.
As it is the center of Yeongdong, many buses from Yeongdong pass through Yeongdong-eup.
After getting off at Yeongdong Station, I headed to the wine tunnel.
The distance is not far so you can walk.
Inside the Yeongdong Wine Tunnel, wine-related attractions are on display.
You can also taste wine for free at the wine experience center, and it was quite delicious.
Part of the admission fee is refunded as a local love gift certificate, so you can use it in Yeongdong-eup when you return.
※ Since the time of travel and writing time are different, the local love gift certificate refund policy may have changed.
There is a Kwailnara Theme Park around Yeongdong Wine Tunnel, where you can see a botanical garden and an orchard (photos taken only of the botanical garden)
At the time of my visit, the orchard had not yet begun to produce fruit, so I could only see trees with lush green leaves.
Since the orchard is larger than the botanical garden, I think it is better to come when the fruit is in full bloom.
I think you can afford a day trip even considering visiting the wine tunnel and Kwailnara theme park.
That is all.
