I went to Gochang, the first capital of the Korean Peninsula, from Seoul on a day trip by public transportation (The first capital of the Korean Peninsula is Gochang-gun's slogan)
Gochang-gun is quite far away, so if you want to make a day trip, you have to go early
Since there is no train passing by, I took the bus.

If you take the 7:05 bus, you will arrive at the location at around 10:20 AM (may vary depending on road conditions)
The first destination of this day trip is Hakwon Farm, so you need to take a bus to Gongum-myeon.
The bus to Gongum-myeon departs from Gochang-eup at around 11 AM.
※ Since this is written based on memory, the bus schedule may be somewhat inaccurate.
※ The bus schedule may have changed from the current standard because the time of the trip and the time of writing are different.
You can see Gochang-eupseong Fortress during this waiting time, but it is better not to try unless you are confident.
Since the Gongum-myeon buses do not run frequently, you will lose a lot of time if you miss it.
I just looked around the market during the waiting time.

Take the Gongum-myeon bus and get off at Gye-dong (I remember it took about 40 minutes from Gochang-eup to Gye-dong)
At this time, be sure to check the time at the bus stop for Gochang-eup
There is a bus to Gochang-eup at around 1 PM, and it is better to take the bus that arrives at this time
※ I emphasize this again, but since I am writing based on memory, the bus times mentioned in this article may be inaccurate
You can arrive at the academy farm by walking about 2km from the bus stop
After all, since you are using public transportation, you can't help but walk a bit
As you walk along the quiet two-lane road in the countryside, you will see a row of unnamed wild flowers in full bloom, and the rice fields where rice has not yet grown are reflecting the clear sky like a mirror
I like this little pleasure that inconvenience gives (it's one of the reasons I use public transportation)
When I arrived at the academy farm, the barley was ripening. The barley swayed in the wind like waves. Suddenly, a sentence came to mind.
"The wolf is running."
If you take the bus to Gochang-eup and go back, you will pass by the Gochang Dolmen site on the way. Of course, it is not nearby, so you have to get off and walk a bit (I remember it feeling like it was about 1~2km).
Even if you look at the dolmen, you can't tell if it's a dolmen. It looks like a rock is buried.
There is a park nearby that recreates the era when the dolmen was built.
In my personal opinion, considering the loss of time, it is better to pass by the dolmen site. It is possible to make a day trip by passing by the dolmen site, but there is no time to spare.
Before passing the dolmen site, you pass by Mujang-eup, but there is Mujang-eupseong in Mujang-eup.
Similarly, considering it is a day trip, I think it is better to pass by Mujang-eupseong (Gochang-eupseong has good accessibility to the terminal)
Next, I went to Seonunsa Temple, a major tourist attraction in Gochang.
The bus to Seonunsa Temple departed from Gochang-eup around 2:30 PM, and (if you pass the dolmen site and arrive at Gochang-eup as it is) there was about an hour of waiting time, so I ate at the market and looked around a bit.
I remember it took about 20 minutes from Gochang-eup to Seonunsa Temple.
I remember the road from Seonunsa Temple Bus Stop to Seonunsa Temple was beautiful.
On the way, I passed a road lined with short trees, and the leaves that filled my view created an emerald landscape.
The sight of sunlight streaming through the emerald landscape was impressive.
I remember there was a bus back to Gochang-eup around 3:30 PM, so I took that bus and went back to Gochang-eup.
(Check the bus schedule when you arrive at the bus stop. Checking the bus schedule at the bus stop is the basis of travel.)
When you arrive at Gochang-eup, you have time to visit Gochang-eupseong (I didn't go because I had been there before). Gochang-eupseong is one of the few towns that has preserved the original form of the Joseon Dynasty fortress, and you can look down on Gochang-eup.
