Arriving at the [Seoul Arts Center]
When I pulled back the curtain, an installation art was on display.
When the light source behind the window moves, the shadow on the window moves accordingly.
It seems like an installation art that goes well with Caravaggio who made good use of light.
The first painting you see is Ludovico Carracci's "Conversion of St. Paul"
There are 57 paintings in this exhibition, but 10 are by Caravaggio, and the rest are works are other artist's
Next is Francesco Bassano Il Giovanni's "Christ in the House of Martha and Mary"
A beautiful work of art with the sun rising over a complex kitchen
Since these are Caravaggio-style paintings that emphasize light, most of the paintings are lit with soft lighting to match the light source.
"Saint Cecilia" by Antiveduto Grammatica
Caravaggio's work [Boy Bitten by a Lizard], which was also exhibited at the National Gallery of the National Museum of Korea
However, it is said that the work that was exhibited last time and this work has different owners.
There are currently three [Boy Bitten by a Lizard] works remaining in the world, and two of them visited Korea in a short period of time.
“Still Life with Pears” by Fede Galazia
Caravaggio's [Boy Peeling Fruit]
"Salenos giving wine to the young Bacchus" by unknown artist
Guercino's work "Jerminia Discovers the Wounded Tancredi"
“Elijah Receiving Food from Crows” by Guercino
"Saint Francis in Ecstasy"
“Christ Crowned with Thorns” by Tommaso Salini
"The Doubt of St. Thomas", which I had seen in art textbooks
Caravaggio's "Arrest of Christ"
Caravaggio's "Saint Francis Meditating"
Caravaggio's "Saint Sebastian"
If you look closely at that arrow, it is depicted so realistically.
One of the central works of this exhibition, "David with the Head of Goliath"
At the end of the exhibition, Caravaggio's life is organized in this space.
At the end, Caravaggio's works that were not included in this exhibition were shown on a screen.
Overall, it was very interesting and informative.
