It is open until 9pm every Saturday from March to December or the last Wednesday of each month, so if you want to see it quietly without people, I recommend going at this time.

B. Course for Intermediate Levels
1. Ki Limsa
A temple on the way from Gampo, where Gameunsa Temple Site is located, to downtown Gyeongju. It was built during the reign of Queen Seondeok, and it is said that Master Wonhyo remodeled it and named it Girimsa Temple.
Almost all of the temples in Gyeongju have only their foundations left, and even Bulguksa Temple, which has buildings, is mostly built recently and is not very impressive, but Girimsa Temple is a place that exudes the feel of an ancient temple as most of the buildings were built right after the Japanese invasions of Korea.

2. Golgulam Grotto
This temple is located near Girimsa Temple and is said to have been founded by monks from India who carved 12 caves into a rock cliff and carved a Buddha statue at the top. It is also famous for the Buddhist martial art called Seonmudo.
If you visit for the first time, you will be surprised by the shocking visuals. As you climb through various tunnels in the bizarre rock cliff and climb up as if you were rock climbing, you will come across the rock-carved Buddha, Treasure No. 581. The road is very dangerous, so sneakers are a must.
3. Queen Seondeok’s Tomb
This is the tomb of the 27th Queen Seondeok, located at the top of Nangsan Mountain. It can be reached by climbing about 10 minutes from Sacheonwangsa Temple Site. There is an anecdote about the location of Sacheonwangsa Temple and Queen Seondeok's Tomb, so it would be good to look it up.
4. Tomb of King Sinmun

5. Seoak-dong Ancient Tombs (King Muyeol’s Tomb)
The tomb of King Taejong Muyeol is the only tomb among the royal tombs of the Silla Dynasty with a definite burial location, and a monument remains in front of the tomb. The owners of the four ancient tombs behind King Muyeol's tomb are unknown, but they are presumed to be King Beopheung, King Jinheung, King Jinji, and King Munheung.
6. Baedong Samneung
Baedongsamneung is a set of three tombs located on the west side of Namsan Mountain. It is believed to be the tomb of the 8th King Adalai, the 53rd King Sindeok, and the 54th King Gyeongmyeong, but it is highly unlikely that this is the case due to the 700-year gap between Adala and King Sindeok.
This place is famous for the pine forest around the tomb being more beautiful than the tomb, so it's a good idea to take a leisurely walk.

7. Seochulji
In the Samguk Yusa, there is a story that while Sojimaripgan of Silla was moving to the foot of Namsan Mountain, a rat told him to chase a crow, and an old man came out of the pond where he chased and gave him a letter, hence the name Seochulji. For your reference, this letter instructs you to shoot Geomungojip with an arrow, and when you shoot it, it is said that the king and the palace owner who were plotting an evil plan died while inside it.
The pond itself is more beautiful than these legends, so many people visit it. There is a pavilion called Iyodang by the pond, which was built during the reign of King Hyeonjong of the Joseon Dynasty.

8. Tomb of King Wonseong (Gwaereung)
In the late Silla period, a style of erecting railing stones and zodiac signs around the burial mound and placing statues of Munmu and lions, etc. appeared, the representative tomb being the tomb of King Wonseong. The unmanned statue of this tomb has a unique Arabian appearance, indicating that trade was active at the time.
9. Bunhwangsa Temple
Bunhwangsa Temple, founded by Queen Seondeok, is home to the oldest stone pagoda. This pagoda is in the style of a stone pagoda, imitating a brick pagoda. Currently, only the 3rd floor remains, but a lot of stone was excavated in the surrounding area, so it is presumed that it was originally the 7th or 9th floor.
10. Hwangnyongsa Temple Site
It is also the site of Hwangnyongsa Temple, a temple built during the reign of Queen Seondeok. When a yellow dragon appeared on the site where the royal palace was to be built, it was interpreted as meaning to build a temple, and the temple was built and called Hwangnyongsa Temple. King Ashoka of India donated 57,000 geun of iron and 30,000 gold. It is said that the attempt to build the Janyukjonjon statue failed, so it was sent out to sea and reached Silla, where it completed the Jangyukjonjang statue.
This is the place where the famous Hwangnyongsa Temple nine-story wooden pagoda was located, and now only the site remains.

11. Oksan Seowon and Dongrakdang
Dongnakdang is the place where Hoejae Lee Eon-jeok lived after quitting his government job, and Oksan Seowon is a seowon built in memory of Lee Eon-jeok. Oksan Seowon is one of the 47 Seowons that were not destroyed despite Heungseon Daewongun's abolition decree, and is famous for having its contents written by Chusa Kim Jeong-hee. The characteristic feature of Dongnakdang's account is that it faces the stream in front.
This place is located in Angang-eup, far north of Gyeongju city, so it takes about 40 minutes to drive, so please keep that in mind when visiting.

12. Thirteen-story stone pagoda at Jeonghyesa Temple site
The Thirteen-story Stone Pagoda of Jeonghyesa Temple Site is a representative unusual pagoda from the late Silla Dynasty, and refers to a unique pagoda that deviates from the typical style. The characteristic of this tower is that the first floor is very large and the remaining twelve floors are very small. It's a 5-minute drive from Dongnakdang, so it's a good place to visit together.
C. Course for advanced users
1. Buknamsan area [Bodhi Temple, Bulgok Tamsil Buddha, Tapgok Rock-carved Statue Group]
There are various important cultural assets gathered on the north side of Namsan Mountain. Among them, the stone seated Buddha statue of Bodhi Temple is famous for its handsome Buddha. The main Buddha and the mandorla are harmonious, and a Buddha statue is also engraved on the back of the mandorla.
The Bulgok rock-carved seated Buddha statue was carved out of natural stone, and has a tabernacle-like shape. The characteristics of this Buddha statue include a feminine posture, slightly slouched shoulders, a hooded head, and a gentle smile.
You have to park at Deulmeori and walk for about 10 minutes to get out.
The Tapgok Rock Carved Statues group refers to several carvings carved into a huge natural stone located behind a temple called Okryongam. Numerous Buddhist statues were carved, including the nine-story pagoda and seven-story pagoda on the south side, lions, and monks meditating under the Bodhi tree. Although the level of sculpture is not very high, it can be seen that they were trying to represent the world of Buddhism.

2. Oreung
Oreung is said to be the tomb of Hyeokgeose, and according to the Samguk Yusa, when Hyeokgeose died, his body ascended to the sky and fell into five parts. It is said that the snakes prevented the snakes from gathering the bodies together, so they divided them into five and buried them. Therefore, this place is called the tomb of the serpent. Also called a circle. However, in the Samguk Sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms), it is said to be the tomb of the early Park Clan kings Hyeokgeose, Namhae, Yuri, Pasa, and Hyeokgeosebi Alyeong, but the facts are unknown.
In Oreung, there is Alyeongjeong Pavilion, a well where Alyeong is said to have come from, so please take a look around.

3. Changlim Temple Site
Silla's palace was Wolseong, but it was not like that when Silla was founded. In the Samguk Sagi (History of the Three Kingdoms), it is said that Talhae moved the palace to Wolseong, the site of a house taken from a person named Hogong, which means that it was originally in a different place, and the previous palace site is presumed to be Changnimsa Temple site. This is thought to be because Najeong, the well where Hyeokgeose came from, is very close to this place.
Currently, only one stone pagoda remains at Changnimsa Temple site, and the location of the pagoda is higher than the surrounding area, making it good for viewing the sunset.

4. Janghang-ri Temple Site
Janghang-ri Temple Site is located on the road to Gampo after crossing Tohamsan Mountain, where Bulguksa Temple and Seokguram Grotto are located. Daejongcheon Stream flows below the temple site, but due to frequent landslides, the East Pagoda was already lost to the bottom of the valley during the Japanese colonial period.
Because it is a place with few people, the atmosphere is quiet, so it is a healing place to visit when you want to sit quietly and rest.
5. Sungboksa Temple Site
Sungboksa Temple Site is a very unknown temple site even in Gyeongju, but it is the place where Daesungboksa Monument, one of the four monuments (Sasan Epitaphs) written by Choi Chi-won, stood (currently in the National Museum of Korea). This is also a good place to watch the sunset, like Changnimsa Temple Site.
6. Tomb of King Heungdeok
King Heungdeok's tomb is a royal tomb located in the northern part of Gyeongju, like Yangdong Village or Oksan Seowon, and the owner of the tomb was discovered through the collection of monuments around the tomb. This is a place that shows the essence of the so-called 'Angang-type pine trees'. The winding pine trees grow widely in front of the tomb, creating a fantastic atmosphere.
7. Royal Tomb of Gyeongdeok
King Gyeongdeok was the king who decorated the finale of the heyday of Silla, and Bulguksa Temple, Seokguram Grotto, and King Seongdeok’s Divine Bell are all works of art from the period of King Gyeongdeok. However, when his son, King Hyegong, ascended to the throne at the age of seven, the royal power began to falter, and Silla entered a period of decline.
His tomb is also surrounded by pine trees like the Royal Tomb of Heungdeok, but the atmosphere is quite different as it is located halfway up the mountain.
8. King Jinpyeong’s Tomb
King Jinpyeong was on the throne for 52 years. While there He was the king who managed the territory expanded by King Jinheung and laid the foundation for the unification of the three kingdoms. As befits such a king, King Jinpyeong's tomb is surrounded by huge old trees on the fields of Bomun-dong and creates a quiet atmosphere. There is no place in Gyeongju that has as much charm as this.

9. Danseoksan Mountain Sinseonsa Temple
Sinseonsa Temple is a temple located on Danseoksan Mountain in the west of Gyeongju. It has a huge rock wall with about 10 carved Buddha statues. This rock wall is U-shaped with three sides north-east-south, and the main Buddha on the north side is a whopping 8.2m high, which is very huge. This group of rock-carved Buddha statues is in the form of an early cave temple, and the inscriptions carved at the time of its creation (7th century) remain, making it a national treasure due to its high antiquarian value.
However, accessibility is very poor. You have to climb a very narrow and rough mountain road for about 2km, and there is a sign at the entrance telling you to use four-wheel drive or walk. You have to walk quite a bit from the parking lot, so be sure to allow plenty of time.

Namsan hiking course
1. Samreunggok Course
A course heading from Baedong Samneung, famous for its pine forests, to Geumobong Peak, the summit. It is one of the most popular courses in Namsan and has several cultural assets, including the cold-bone stone seated Buddha statue, which has been designated as a treasure, and is famous for the huge rock-carved seated Buddha statue near the summit.

2. Yongjangsagok course
Course heading from Yongjang 1-ri to Geumobong Peak. If you are a first-time hiker to Namsan, the most cost-effective option is to climb Samneunggok and come down here.
The three-story stone pagoda of Yongjangsa Temple site, located at the end of a rock cliff, is famous. Yongjangsa Temple is also known as the place where Kim Si-seup wrote Geumo Myth. In addition to the three-story stone pagoda, the Yongjangsa Temple site also has a unique pedestal stone Buddha and rock-carved Buddha statue.
The section between Seoljamgyo Bridge and Yongjangsa Temple Site has many stairs and is steep, so be careful when visiting.

3. Chilbulam Course
A course that starts from Yeombulsa Temple Site on Mt. Dongnam and goes to Chilbulam Hermitage and Sinseonam Hermitage. At Chilbulam, there is a group of rock-carved Buddha statues consisting of the Buddha Triad and Buddha in all directions in front of it. The carvings are excellent and the arrangement is unique, so it has been designated as a national treasure. In addition, Sinseonam Hermitage is located right above Chilbulam Hermitage. The characteristic feature of the rock-carved Bodhisattva half-gatha statue here is that it looks down on Namsan Mountain with a meditative expression.

4. Poseokgok Course
The Poseokgok course starts from Poseokjeong and heads to Geumobong Peak. This course follows the northern ridge of Namsan Mountain, so the scenery is excellent. In particular, the five-story stone pagoda standing on Neombibong Peak is the highlight. However, it may be a bit longer and more boring than other courses, but you can hike from the middle of the ridge in the direction of Tongiljeon (Guksagok).
5. Yeoramgok Course
Yeogamgok is a course that starts from Saegatgol, the southernmost hill of Namsan, and visits Yeogamgok Seated Buddha and Rock-carved Buddha. Yeoramgok became famous because a huge rock-carved Buddha was found toppled forward during an excavation in 2007. This rock-carved Buddha is believed to have been rolled down after the rock broke during an earthquake in 1430, but its nose was not broken by less than 5cm, making it famous for a while as it was a 5cm miracle.
6. Lotus pedestal
Namsan's lotus pedestal is located slightly past the turnoff from Geumobong Peak to Yongjangsagok, and you can view the entire Namsan mountain from here. If you are planning to go to Yongjangsagok, be sure to visit.
I put a lot of effort into writing it, and although it may be a bit rambling, I hope you read it carefully if you are planning a trip to Gyeongju.
