Below is the guy who wrote a brief travelogue of Gyeongju with Euler Yudong.
I went to Eupcheon Port, south of Gyeongju, to see the Yangnam Columnar Joints. The motel I stayed at the day before was not far from the long-distance bus terminal across from the intercity bus terminal, so it was easy to catch a long-distance bus. I rode race number 150 and ran for about 1 hour and 10 minutes.
On the way, I saw the Korea Hydro & Nuclear Power headquarters, company residence, and King Munmu's tomb.
The race is big.
A brief photo of the observatory we will be visiting.
Unlike the long columnar joints on Jeju Island, it is shaped like a fan. Due to seawater in the lower part of the lava and air in the upper part, the shrinkage from the core toward the upper cross section was eroded into small hexagonal units, creating columnar joints.
This is a lying columnar joint. Was the sea water this clear?
There is a rock exhibition hall on the first floor, a terrace on the second floor, and an observatory at the top of the fourth floor. However, since the interior was covered with glass, it was better to take pictures from outside.
During an outdoor field trip organized by the Geological Society of Korea nearby, there was a person who revealed his new theory about columnar joints and there were people who heard and criticized it. I was interested, but it was hard to understand because it was not my major.
₩15,000 Raw fish, stingray and flounder. Although there was no meat in the seaweed soup, it was very flavorful. It was a satisfying meal except that the anchovies were salty.
Daereungwon is a park filled with tombs, but in Korea, where public safety is good, the atmosphere was quiet rather than creepy and good for small talk with people nearby.
I was surprised by the completeness of the gold decorations and gold horse saddles used by the high-ranking people of Silla at Cheonmachong. However, the thickness of the crown was thin, so it contrasted greatly with Queen Elizabeth II's crown. I think it would be similar to 10 Ferrero Rocher gold foil stacked on top of each other.
Silla Grand Bell before entering the accommodation. It is a new bell following the King Seongdeok Divine Bell.
