※The significance of this first contest is to announce the concept and vision presented by each group.
Please keep in mind that this is not a confirmed bird's eye view, and there is a high possibility that it will be supplemented or changed in the 2nd contest to be held in 2025.※

1. Landmarks of connectivity, accessibility, and permeability
The goal of Zaha Hadid's architecture is Seamlessly connects green spaces, the Han River, citizens, and cultural spaces. The goal is to create a true cultural space.
This is not just a current goal, but also a goal that takes the future into consideration.
It is said that the current Yeouido Park looks like an island within an island, with nature isolated between the city center. As a result, it appears that it is not effectively connected to the urban environment.
Therefore, the design goal of Zaha Hadid Architecture is to improve connectivity, accessibility, and permeability between Yeouido Park and the surrounding city center, and to enrich the cultural and public assets of Seoul citizens.
And they said they would like to introduce this special landmark in the form of a performing arts center.
It was designed to blur the boundaries between the top and bottom of the terrain so that the subway and the park are naturally connected, and citizens crossing the road can naturally visit the park.
It is said that the reconstructed Yeouido Park will provide a new way of visibility and a new connection for pedestrians.
The park connected to the roof of the performance hall will become a new plaza and provide a 360-degree view of the surrounding city center and natural environment.
This rooftop park is said to be open 24 hours a day.
The master plan proposed by Zaha Hadid Architecture includes a total of four zones.
first is equipped with various plants and ponds. Ecological Park.
There is a bridge over this area, and it is said to be a pedestrian path connecting Saetgang and Yeouido Park.
second The subway, shopping, and ground are connected to each other. Citizen's Axis.
It is said that the edge of the huge fountain is connected to an underground civic plaza and subway station.
third Equipped with a cafe and library A social interaction space.
It is said to be a space where local residents and visitors can enjoy various events.
fourth has a performing arts center. cultural space.
The roof has an organic ramp leading to a rooftop park with a 36-degree view of the surrounding area.
The performing arts center lobby It is said that there is a road leading straight to the Han River.
And this lobby It is said to be a space where various cultural activities take place.
this lobby In the several rooms that protrude from the center, you can watch the performers preparing for the performance. lobby floor Artwork can be displayed.
It is characterized by a very high floor height.
Grand performance hall It can accommodate up to 2,300 people.
medium sized concert hall It is said that it can accommodate about 700 people.
And if you follow the lobby, you will soon reach an amphitheater connected to the Han River.

6. Q&A
First question
Q: It has been over 20 years since Yeouido Park was created. There are also noble-like pine trees. I am curious as to why all the green space in the entire park is being renovated. And will Mulbit Square also disappear?
- To add a personal opinion, this questioner does not seem to know that the Aquatic Square remains in Zaha Hadid Architecture's master plan.
※ Chief architect Kang Byeong-geun also partially answered this question.
A: The international competition for Yeouido Park will be held separately.
What has been presented so far should be understood as the ideas presented in the first contest.
-Whether it is a park where noble-like pine trees grow or something else, we will have to wait until the Yeouido International Competition to be held in the future to come to a conclusion.
This master plan by Zaha Hadid Architecture is a vision where connectivity from the river to the park is at its core.
Whether to touch the park or leave it as is is something to be discussed with City Hall.
Even if we keep the park as is, there will be no problem in terms of our plans.
Second question
Q: The appearance of the building as seen from the Han River looks relatively ordinary, unlike the curvaceous beauty and beauty-oriented buildings of Zaha Hadid's usual architecture. It looks as if it has been cut straight along the road. What was the intention behind designing it that way?
A: That's an interesting question. The design of the Han Riverside façade and the park façade that raised issues will be reviewed again in the future.
However, our design intention was divided into two parts. The site adjacent to the park emphasized the curvaceous beauty of nature, while the façade along the Han River was intended to blend in the scenery of the skyscraper along the Han River in Yeouido.
However, I think this design may need to be changed in the next step.
7. Private opinion
This is Zaha Hadid Architecture's second work in Korea.
Personally, I was very excited about this selection because I like Zaha Hadid's architecture.
Of course, as the second questioner mentioned above, I was a little chilled by the relatively frequent use of straight lines.
Nevertheless, I like the vision that Zaha Hadid Architecture is trying to achieve through the 2nd Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.
And as you can see from the answer to the second question, This contest focuses on the vision presented by each selected work.
So what is noteworthy in this work is not the architectural beauty of Zaha Hadid's architecture, but Pay attention to the culture, communication, and accessibility they seek and reorganize. I think it should be done.
It's a building, so there's plenty of room for it to be improved and submitted to the 2025 contest.
I think that by then, the square spaces inside will have been improved.
Even if you consider the architectural beauty at that time, there will be no problem.
In addition, there is a background issue on the stage that was pointed out in the review.
The fact is that the space looks narrow compared to the background of other plans.
To improve this, the rehearsal space needs to be reduced or the entire space reorganized.
Anyway, this is the end of TMI’s five selections from the 2nd Sejong Center for the Performing Arts.
The next phase is scheduled to take place in 25.
While waiting, I think if we spend some time focusing on Nodeul Island or other development projects, we will see results.
