Namhae Bridge (Gyeongnam, 660m) Opened on June 22, 1973


It is the oldest existing suspension bridge in Korea, connecting Namhae-gun and Hadong-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do.

President Park Chung-hee attended the completion ceremony, and it was a very meaningful event as this was the site of the Battle of Noryang, the final battle of the Japanese invasions of Korea.

Because of its long history of over 50 years, many memories remain in the memories of Gyeongnam residents.

Additionally, near Namhae Bridge, there is Chungryeolsa Temple, which commemorates Admiral Yi Sun-sin.

Noryang Bridge (Gyeongnam, 3100m) opened on September 13, 2018


It is the second bridge connecting Namhae-gun and Hadong-gun in Gyeongsangnam-do.

It was built to replace the aging Namhae Bridge.

For reference, there was controversy over the name before opening.

There was a war of words over whether it should be the second Namhae Bridge or Hadong Bridge, but a final agreement was reached on Noryang Bridge in 2018.

The small red bridge visible in the background is Namhae Bridge.

Yi Sun-sin Bridge (Jeonnam, 2260m) opened on February 8, 2013


It is the first suspension bridge in Jeollanam-do, connecting Yeosu-si and Gwangyang-si in Jeollanam-do.

The reason it was named Yi Sun-sin Bridge was because it was adjacent to the Noryang Strait where he fought until the end and died.

Incidentally, the total length of the main span of Yi Sun-sin Bridge is 1545m, which is said to refer to 1545, the year of birth of Chungmugong Yi Sun-sin.

Cheonsa Bridge (Jeonnam, 7260m) opened on April 4, 2019


It is a bridge located on National Route 2 that connects Aphaedo Island and Amtaedo Island in Shinan-gun, Jeollanam-do.

It is said to be the longest bridge on a national highway.

It was originally planned to be built as the New Millennium Bridge, but it was named Cheonsa Bridge because there are 1,004 islands in Shinan-gun.

There are many islands in Shinan-gun, and it is said that it is a great help in connecting the islands with the mainland.

Uniquely, Cheonsa Bridge is a combination of both cable-stayed and suspension bridges, and in this article, it is introduced as a suspension bridge.

Gwangan Bridge (Busan, 7420m) opened on January 6, 2003


It is a bridge located on Busan Metropolitan City Road No. 66 that connects Suyeong-gu and Haeundae in Busan.

It is the longest suspension bridge in Korea based on total length.

In the past, traffic difficulties between Suyeong-gu and Haeundae new town were severe, and a sea bridge was adopted as a solution to this problem.

Although this project was once highly opposed, it is now loved by local residents and tourists.

This bridge, also called the Diamond Bridge, is often introduced overseas as a landmark of Busan beyond Gwangalli.

In particular, the night view from Gwangalli Beach is famous for being truly beautiful.

Yeongjong Bridge (Incheon, 4420m) opened on October 20, 2000


It is a bridge connecting Seo-gu and Jung-gu (Yeongjongdo) in Incheon Metropolitan City.

What's unusual is It is a structure that combines roads and railways, and uniquely in Korea, it has both characteristics of automobile-only railway traffic.

Also, the Incheon Airport Railroad passes through this bridge.

Since this bridge is part of the Incheon Airport Expressway, you must pass by this bridge to get to the airport from Incheon mainland.

Ulsan Bridge (Ulsan, 1800m) opened on June 1, 2015


It is a bridge that connects Nam-gu and Dong-gu in Ulsan Metropolitan City.

With the opening of Ulsan Bridge, transportation convenience between Nam-gu and Dong-gu in Ulsan has been greatly improved.

It is said that many vehicles actually come and go.

Additionally, there is a separate observatory facility on Hwajeongsan Mountain in Ulsan that overlooks Ulsan Bridge.
